This month marks 10 years of delivering expert special educational needs (SEN) advice on our helpline!

The SEN team on our helpline was established as part of our comprehensive information and advice service, which incorporates our website and social media channels, and with funding from the Department for Education in England.

Since the time we launched our helpline team, we’ve continued to provide advice on key topics like early years options, support in school and education beyond 16; helped families understand the huge changes to the England SEN system back in 2014; and more recently supported parent carers through the turbulance of the pandemic and the impact it’s had on children’s schooling.

In those ten years, we’ve expanded our online education information – all written by our SEN helpline team – and introduced new ways to get in reach us, including our website Live Chat and our helpline enquiry form. Our FAQs tool helps website users quickly find answers to the some of the questions we’re most asked about on the helpline.

We want to say thank you to everyone who’s used our service and given us feedback to help us improve our service for other families!

We’ve recently published new online education information for families in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

We cover what the law says about the help your child is entitled to; how to talk to the school if your child needs additional support; and what you can do to put things right. You’ll also find additional resources from specialist organisations.
