We’ve prepared a template letter for parents to use. Our letter calls on the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) to recommend offering a Covid-19 vaccine as soon as possible to children with underlying health conditions and those who are clinically vulnerable.

You can download the template letter and send to the JCVI by email (details are in the letter).

The JCVI will be advising the government on which groups of children are at particularly high risk of Covid-19.

In a joint press conference with the prime minister last night, Professor Chris Whitty spoke about the need to vaccinate children at high risk of Covid-19 as a priority. This is welcome in a debate that has largely focused on vaccinating children to protect adults.

We want the JCVI to prioritise clinically vulnerable children and children with underlying health conditions for Covid-19 vaccines, particularly now the use of Pfizer in over-12s has received safety approval from the MHRA.

If you agree, please complete our template letter and send to the JCVI.
