Case study: Pears Foundation

Pears Foundation

Pears Foundation has been working in partnership with Contact since March 2011.

Its support and investment enables us to provide the families of disabled children with vital emotional and practical support: whatever their child's condition, whenever they need us, wherever they are in the UK.

As an innovative and forward-thinking funder, Pears Foundation allows us to direct its investment where it is most needed. This gives us the scope to use funding to best effect for families today, and it helps us build our capacity to be there for more families in the future.

The Foundation also funded a 12-month partnership project between Contact and the Family Fund. The project aimed to identify families that were eligible for Disability Living Allowance - the main benefit for disabled children - but not claiming it. The project transformed the financial circumstances of the families involved; in fact some families doubled their previous income.

"Pears Foundation's support for our work has transformed families' lives for the better. Being able to direct funding where it is most needed is vital as we navigate the changing needs of families and a fluctuating economic environment, so it is absolutely brilliant to have such a forward-thinking partner in Pears Foundation. We greatly appreciate its commitment, insight and passion to help families with disabled children feel valued, confident and to live the lives they want."
