Get your free guide to benefits changes
Thursday 13th April 2017
This April has seen the government introduce a large number of changes to the benefits and tax credits system, many of which will impact on families with disabled children. These changes include:
- Limiting tax credits and Universal Credit payments to the first two children in a family.
- Cuts to ESA payments for some disabled adults.
- Reducing support to newly bereaved parents.
- Changes to the bedroom tax rules.
Later this month the government will also start to introduce its new tax-free childcare scheme for working families.
Many families with a disabled child will be affected by these changes, so it is important that you understand how they might impact on you and your family.
To help you make sense of what these changes mean, we have produced a new factsheet for parents with a disabled child called Benefits are Changing [PDF].
