Give It Back gets off to flying start – help us keep up the pressure
Wednesday 5th June 2019
Our Give It Back campaign has got off to a flying start, with over 5,000 supporters signing our letter in just two days.
The letter, written by the fantastic Kowal family from Southampton, calls on the government to give back £434 million that has been cut from disabled children's services.
The Disabled Children's Partnership (DCP) - a coalition of 60 disability charities which Contact's CEO Amanda Batten chairs - launched the Give It Back campaign on Monday.
It was kickstarted with a powerful social media film highlighting that more families with disabled children than ever before are having to cope with no support at all due to devastating cuts. That film had 14,000 views in just two days.
The DCP is working in partnership with the Sun newspaper on Give It Back, and the campaign has been promoted in features, online and in a leader comment giving it full exposure and the best possible chance of success.
Our Head of Campaigns, Una Summerson, spent the day with the wonderful Chaplin family from Essex on Sunday as part of a piece for Sky News highlighting the need for the Chancellor to Give It Back.
If you haven't done so already sign the letter today to show your support and put pressure on the government. It just takes 30 seconds. With your help we can get it to 10,000 by the weekend.
