After many hurdles and an extremely difficult year that saw the  London Marathon postponed for the first time in 40 years, we can confidently say the countdown is officially on to the first virtual Virgin London Marathon.

This Sunday 4 October, thousands of runners from all over the world will be taking part in a unique version of the London Marathon that will give them the opportunity to run anywhere and at any time during the 24 hours of that day.

Contact is proud to have the support of 23 fantastic runners who will be hitting the pavements of London, South Yorkshire, Bristol, Wales, Corfu in Greece and many other scenic spots.

One of our runners Judith Kippax said:

"I have run the London Marathon five times now, and I'm supporting Contact this year in memory of my mother as the charity was very close to her heart. Having a virtual event taking place this year gives runners the opportunity to achieve something unique while doing much needed fundraising for Contact.

"I know that charities have been really affected by Covid-19 and there has been a huge loss of income for many. I hope that by fundraising for the Virtual London Marathon I will, hopefully, help recoup some of the lost income and help them continue supporting thousands of families with disabled children."

We are wishing our wonderful runners the best of luck in this year's London Marathon - you are all helping us make a huge difference!

Good luck!

Would you like to fundraise for Contact? While many events this year have unfortunately been cancelled, why not plan ahead for 2021 or even organise something of your own?
