Today sees the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme open to applications by employers.

Our Family Finances Adviser Derek explains theCoronavirus Job Retention Scheme, the government's initiative tofinancially support people unable to do their jobs during thecoronavirus outbreak.

From Monday 20 April, an employer can apply to the government for a grant to cover 80 per cent of the wages of staff they have agreed to furloughed. Once an application has been successfully submitted, payment of the grant should be made to the employer after 6 working days.
