Contact supporter on Sky Sports tonight

Friday 20th December 2019

Jockey and Contact supporter Robbie Walsh will appear tonight on Sky Sports Racing's Get In programme to talk about the work he is doing for Contact.

Robbie will be on the show from 4.15-8.45pm, chatting to presenters Jason Weaver and Luke Harvey about horse racing and what he gets up to off the racecourse including supporting Contact and singing.

Robbie's son Leighton aged 5 has Congenital Hyperinsulinism, an extremely rare condition that means he has abnormally high levels of insulin. When Leighton was born he spent three months in intensive care at Coombe and Our Lady's Children's Hospitals in Dublin before being transferred to Great Ormond Street where he stayed for several months as doctors worked out how to help him.

Robbie said: "Having Leighton and seeing other families struggle I wanted to help other families like mine.

"I'm proud to be raising awareness of Contact and helping to raise money so they can continue their work changing lives for families with disabled children."

Robbie rides for trainer Ian Williams of Dominion Stables in Birmingham. He races across the country at high profile races. Robbie and Ian are doing a sponsored sky dive for Contact in the new year, which was postponed due to wet weather in October. Sponsor Robbie and his sky dive team.

Robbie also enjoys singing and was on X Factor several years ago. He has recently recorded covers of Lewis Capaldi and Labrinth recently which will feature on tonight's Sky Sports show or listen on You Tube.
