Aerosol generating procedures (AGP) guidance published

Friday 13th November 2020

The government has published the long-awaited updated guidance on aerosol generating procedures (AGP), part of the guidance on safe working in education, childcare and children's social care settings.

Children who require AGP at school have been excluded, either because their school cannot deliver the resource to meet Public Health England's guidelines, or because the implementation of those guidelines would render their child unsafe in school.

Contact hopes these new guidelines will mean that children who require AGP can safely return to school.

The new guidance applies to:

  • Staff working in education, childcare and children's social care settings in England.
  • Children, young people and learners who attend these settings.
  • Their parents or carers.

It explains the strategy for infection prevention and control, including the specific circumstances in which PPE should be used, to enable safe working during the coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak.
