Shielding rules to ease in Northern Ireland from 6 July

Tuesday 23rd June 2020

Northern Ireland Health Minister Robin Swann has announced that from 6 July, people shielding will be able to meet up to six people outside the home, as long as social distancing is strictly observed.

And from the same date, people who are shielding and living alone will be able to form a support bubble from July 6 with one other household.

This means that the person shielding will be able to visit, stay over and spend time with the other household without social distancing. There is no limit to the size of the second household, but no household should be part of more than one support bubble.

Further details will be provided in writing to people who are shielding. This letter will also set out plans to put shielding on hold from 31 July.
