Using the law to challenge cuts to services: Webinar now on Youtube

Tuesday 6th March 2018

Last week we hosted a successful webinar about using the law to challenge cuts to services with Alex Rook and Steve Broach, two specialist public lawyers. The webinar looks at how the law can be used to influence cuts to local authority services and is now available on Youtube.

Local authorities have just set their budgets for the 2018-19 and many will have decided to make significant cuts to services which are valued by disabled children and their families. In the webinar Alex and Steve discuss how the law can be used to influence these decisions using the law - an important resource when other resolutions haven't worked out.

Tracey Rochelle who is a parent carer from Kidderminster watched the webinar and said: "I sat last night and listened to the webinar. Thank you for sending it to me! I have been inspired and I feel much better about going into our meeting!  I feel confident in what I'm asking and how to ask it . I honestly can't thank you enough, it's made a huge difference to me. Thank you again."

The webinar follows the recent legal challenge taken to the High Court by families using the Nascot Lawn respite care service in Hertfordshire. After a lengthy legal battle the  High Court judged that the decision to cease funding this vital service was unlawful.
