North East

An important announcement about Contact North East

Sadly, funding for some of our projects in the North East will be coming to an end on 31 July and our regional North East office will close as a result. This doesn't mean that the services we offer will stop altogether though - please be assured that we are still very much committed to supporting local families.

We'll continue to offer information, support and advice as usual until 31 July. After this date, and for the foreseeable future, we will carry on providing finance and welfare advice to families.

We will also be able to offer support about special educational needs and disability (SEND) reforms until September. All of our planned workshops, information stands and events will take place as scheduled until the end of July.

Until our office closes in July, you can get in touch with us about these services by calling or emailing us on 0191 213 6300 or northeast.office@contact.org.uk

From the 1 August, you can contact us via email northeast.office@contact.org.uk

And don't forget, Contact offers the following national services which are available to families wherever they are:

Finance and Welfare Support in the North East

Rachael Turnbull is the Contact Finance and Welfare Parent Adviser for the North East.

Her role is to empower families to feel more confident in navigating benefit forms, particularly Disability Living Allowance (DLA) and Personal Independence Payments (PIP) and  ensuring they are getting what they are entitled to financially.

Racheal does this by delivering workshops for parents on Money Matters, DLA, PIP and access to Grants. Rachael also provides regular 1:1 call back sessions for parents, who need to speak to someone before the next workshop, who cannot attend a workshop or need a private more detailed conversation.

Rachael has a number of workshops and sessions taking place in the Autumn which will include sessions in Hartlepool, Newcastle, Sunderland County Durham and Gateshead.

If you are interested in finding out more and attending any of these or would like to find out when the next call back sessions are, please email northeast.office@contact.org.uk

If you are a support group and feel that a finance workshop would benefit your parent carers please get in contact with Rachael on rachael.turnbull@contact.org.uk

All future dates for workshops taking place in the North East will be included in regional information and also advertised on the Local Events page.
