Would you like to volunteer as a DLA Supporter for our exciting new project, Benefiting you? Disability Living Allowance (DLA) is the main benefit for families with a disabled child. Over 1/3 of these families spend £300+ monthly on costs related to their child’s disability and care, so this additional financial support is vital. But many families miss out on claiming DLA, as they don’t know have access to help to complete the long and detailed form. In this rewarding volunteer role, you’ll provide this much-needed help and make a massive difference to families’ lives. About the role We are looking for volunteers to help families complete the DLA form via Zoom. You can volunteer from the comfort of your own home, or you are welcome to go into our office in London. We are looking for volunteers from all walks of life and will do our best to support you in your role, whatever your circumstances. “Thank you so much for helping me with the form. I have received my DLA award today. It will help us in so many ways. I can now buy a new buggy for my son” What we ask of you Can you give at least three hours of your time weekly? Can you commit for between three-six months? Do you have access to a laptop/computer and access to a quiet place? Are you reliable? Are you 18+ years of age? Key skills required Able to communicate easily. Great listening skills with an empathetic nature. Good writing skills. Basic IT Skills. Patience and honesty. Awareness of and respect for confidentiality. Experience of the difficulties families with a disabled child face is beneficial but not essential. A 2nd language would be an advantage.
