From today you can share your views on the government’s review of Personal Independence Payment (PIP), the main benefit for disabled adults.
The Call for Evidence forms part of the Timms review of PIP. The government launched the review, led by Sir Stephen Timms, Minister for Social Security and Disability, after Labour MPs indicated that they would vote down original proposals to tighten PIP eligibility for new claimants.
The government scrapped planned changes to PIP that would have affected existing claimants.
What is the review looking into?
The Timms review, and this Call for Evidence, aims to answer the following questions:
- How effectively PIP is delivering on its intended purpose.
- Whether the PIP assessment provides fair access to the right support.
- Whether the experience of claiming PIP varies for different groups.
- How the changes in the workplace and wider society since 2013 have impacted PIP.
It is particular important that disabled young people, adults and their families respond. We know that for many families, PIP is an essential benefit.
How can I respond?
You can respond to the consultation using this online form.
Alternative formats can be requested via [email protected]. This includes web accessible PDF, large print, BSL, audio, and easy read.
The Call for Evidence closes at 11.59 pm on 28 May 2026.
