From today, Monday 1 November, anyone eligible for a Covid-19 vaccine booster who had their second dose at least six months ago can go to a walk-in centre without booking an appointment.

Some walk-in centres are also providing vaccines for 12-15 year olds, including second doses of the vaccine to 12-15 year olds in clinical risk groups, who until now could book an appointment through their GP only.

16-17 year olds in clinical risk groups could already get their second dose at a walk-in centre if they brought along their second vaccine invitation letter. We expect this now to be the case for 12-15 year olds in clinical risk groups too.

To find your nearest walk-in vaccination centre, just search your postcode on the NHS ‘Grab-a-Jab’ website. You’re advised to check that the site is offering boosters and vaccines for under-16s before you go.

The Grab-a-Jab database is updated each day as new sites open up, so make sure to check again the following day if you can’t find an eligible centre near you.

If you have any trouble getting a vaccine that you believe you or your child are eligible for, speak to your GP. You can also let us know so that we can report any issues families are having — just email [email protected].
