The Welsh Government is extending eligibility to its £200 fuel support payment to households in receipt of carers and disability benefits.

This includes benefits such as Carer’s Allowance, Disability Living Allowance, Personal Independence Payment and Child Tax Credits.

Previously, it was only possible to apply for a payment if you were on a means-tested benefit. These include Universal Credit, Income Support or Working Tax Credit.

A further 200,000 households will now be eligible for the scheme, which will also open to claimants of pension credit, contributory benefits and those receiving help from the Council Tax Reduction Scheme.

The new eligibility rules apply from Winter 2022. The scheme will open for applications on 26 September 2022, with the first payments expected to be made in October 2022.
