Fancy a magical woodland adventure with the family – and a chance to make your voice heard?
Contact is inviting parent carers and their children to Middleton Park in Leeds this September to enjoy outdoor theatre, explore nature, meet other families and discover practical ways to influence the decisions that affect them.
Both of our woodland events have been created with SEND families in mind and are designed to be relaxed, welcoming and flexible. There’s no expectation for children to sit quietly or participate in a particular way. They can make noise, move around, take a break or explore the woods – they can join in in whatever way works for them.
Saturday 26 September, 130-330pm: A magical woodland adventure
Join us for an interactive outdoor theatre experience designed to spark curiosity, connect families with nature and have fun together.
Sunday 27 September from 1030am: Have your say and make a difference
While your children enjoy woodland crafts, play and nature activities, you can learn practical ways to engage with politicians and campaign for change on the issues that matter to your family. Led by Hope for the Future, this Woodland Workshop will give you practical tools and ideas to help get your voice heard – including on SEND issues and the challenges facing families in your local community.
Both events take place in Middleton Park in Leeds. Leeds Parent Carer Forum will be also be there to support families too.
Contact has joined forces with Hope for the Future, and arts education group REA, to run these events which have been designed with accessibility in mind, including an accessible toilet nearby, a quiet space and ear protectors. Whether your child is already receiving SEND support, you’re waiting for an assessment, or you simply want to meet other families and find out more about getting your voice heard, you’re very welcome.
