We’d like to wish a massive good luck to all of our supporters running just over 26 miles and raising vital funds for Contact at the London Marathon this Sunday.

Go Joanna!

Meet Joanna, one of Team Contact’s runners who has been training and fundraising with all her might through unexpected injuries and heat waves. We’re incredibly proud of her hard work to support Contact.

Joanna decided to run for us after using our services. She told us:

“My 8 year old son Sebby is disabled, he’s had many operations and had hours and hours of therapy to work really hard to improve his strength. I wanted to run the marathon to show Sebby and my daughter Lottie that we all have to work hard to achieve goals that are difficult.

“It’s been made much more challenging from an injury that meant I’ve not been able to run since early June, and I’ve only had a month to train! I’m maybe not going to achieve a fantastic time, but I’ll have a fantastic time!

“It’s fantastic to raise money for a wonderful charity that supports families like ours. When you have the shock of discovering your child is disabled, you assume all the information will be easily available. It is not. Which is why Contact is so vital, and I’m thrilled to be raising money and awareness.”

And good luck Neil from all of us Contact!

Neil came to us because his family was supported by HemiHelp, which became part of the Contact family in 2018.

Neil decided to support us because HemiHelp was the biggest source of support to him and wife Kate when they were learning about hemiplegia, the condition that affects their son Harvey.

Neil said: “I chose to raise money for Contact because of the help and information that HemiHelp gave my wife and I particularly in the early years of figuring out Harvey’s condition. Everyone deserves the chance to fulfil their potential, and that’s why Contact needs your support.”

Both Neil and Joanna and all of our other runners have done a tremendous job fundraising for Contact and we wish them and all the best of luck on Sunday. We are really humbled by all your hard work – a huge thank you to you all and your supporters!
