12-15 year olds will soon be able to book their Covid-19 vaccination through the national booking service, NHS England announced today.

NHS England Chief Executive Amanda Pritchard said: “To make the most of half-term, we will be opening the national booking service for young people – 12 to 15-year-olds – to have their Covid vaccinations at existing vaccination centres.”

So far only 15% of eligible teenagers have had their first vaccine dose. Today’s announcement comes as the government seeks to increase vaccination take-up over the next two weeks in particular. Until now, vaccine roll-out for 12-15 year olds has taken place in schools.

Parents are being asked to wait for letters to arrive around the end of the week, asking for consent before signing up online.
