Read our parent carers stories What we need from our next government On Thursday 4 July the UK will be voting for the next government. Here are some stories from parent carers who want a government that will make a difference for disabled children and their families. Adele’s story My son was denied access to social care – I was told over the telephone that he simply didn’t qualify. No-one took the time to meet us in person, or to understand how being autistic impacted him on a daily basis. My son would really have benefitted from gaining some independence skills in the community with a PA/enabler, rather than always being with me. The onus should not always be on parents to battle for these services, we have enough on our plates on a daily basis. I want to see the next Government removing barriers to social care and making the process more needs based Adele, parent carer
