Forums may want to develop a communication plan to outline how they are going to reach out to parent carers in the area. This may be an overarching plan or for a specific project.
A communication plan outlines how forums can communicate important information to key groups. It highlights what information should be shared, when, to which audience and via which channels.
The benefits of having a plan include being clear about the messages you want to share, support the forum in using branding and help to manage the forums resources including funds and time.
Some areas forums might want to include in their communication plan are:
- Identify your audience – this could include parent carers, decision makers or general public
- Defining clear goals – what do you want to achieve
- Content – what do you want to achieve
- Media – Setting out what platforms the forum is going to use
- Timetable – when you are going to publish and to who
