HemiHelp – a history

1 min read

In 1991 a small group of parents whose children had hemiplegia met at a research study. They had not been able to find the specialist information and support they needed. When the study ended, they took advice from Contact, the charity for parents of disabled children, and set up a new charity: HemiHelp.

HemiHelp supported families for 26 years, but in 2017, like many other small charities, it experienced financial difficulties. It was an obvious step to look to Contact for support, and HemiHelp became part of the Contact family in April 2018.

Since then, we have continued to support families living with hemiplegia with essential information, opportunities to connect with other families, and resources, while benefitting from the wider services offered by Contact.
